“maybe it’s not your pussy” is such a funny phrase and also correct. People wonder why chores are so hard and it’s like, friends we used to have a whole intergenerational team on this and now Grandma is locked in a beige box. Cooking is hard.

Reblog the problem is capitalism and not your pussy

An Egyptian rock crystal of a chonky hinpopotamus amulet

(Middle Kingdom, ca. 2050-1650 BCE)

Amulets were worn by ancient Egyptians for their protective and regenative properties. Used in both in daily life and during funerary rites, amulets represented animals, deities, symbols or objects thought to possess the magical powers of warding off evil spirits.

As animals were popular representations, the hippopotamus was known for its apotropaic (e.g. ability to avert bad luck) qualities and was associated with rebirth.

The really funny thing about Data playing poker with the rest of the senior staff is that, like… with the way his brain works he’s constantly aware of numbers and calculating probability but he would also know that counting cards is against the rules so does he just try to ignore it. Does he pretend not to. Can he like actively choose to discard that information as it comes in so he just forgets every .005 seconds

Data trying his absolute hardest not to accidentally rain man his coworkers. I’m autistic I can make that joke. Data sitting there not so much “playing poker” as “playing playing poker,” as in, doing his best approximation of a human playing poker. He has an algorithm figured out for it. Semi-random to appear more natural, like how his blinking is timed. He is having fun btw. Data loves playing humans

He isn’t trying to win at poker he’s trying to win at being in a social situation & he has found that people like it more when they win a certain percentage of the time. The game Data’s playing in his head is not the same as the game everyone else is playing

Today’s daily dose of Batshit Australian Politics comes courtesy of Australian Senator Bob “Gay Crocodiles” Katter (yes that one) who today picked a fight with the Australian parliament cafe, which he refused to leave until they accepted a $50 bill as payment instead of a card/tap.

Although staff at the cafe offered to just give Bob his meal for free, he refused to leave until they took the cash. The stoush was eventually settled when a manager was called in and agreed they legally have to take Bob’s money.

“Your plastic magic won’t work without electricity" Bob told the press afterwards, “and without cash you’ll starve.”

The national newswire AAP sent out the story today with this incredible line and photo attached:

Staff offered to give Mr Katter his fish for free, but he remained hungry for justice.

Dear Helena,

Hi.

Tonight I miss you. The air is too still. The room is too dark. And I don’t feel like using my words.

With you that was never an issue. Words were all we had.

Nights are hard without you. Days are okay. I never had you for the days though. Long messages during study period. Brief nocturnal assurances. But that was the extent of it most of the time. The nights are different though. Skype chats for hours on end about nothing until the sun rose. Ponderings on the world and how to interact with it.

Sometimes I forget that you chose me first. That it wasn’t Tina or Zephyr. That you loved me and wanted to know me first. Partially because it’s a bit difficult to process that things like that aren’t always built to last.

And now I know I have other people. Lots of them. Who care and want to know my brain. But God I miss having you too.

Yours always,

In 1982, quite by accident, a zookeeper at Izu Shaboten Zoo in Shizuoka Prefecture discovered that capybaras absolutely loved soaking in hot water, and the practice of providing them an onsen, or traditional Japanese hot spring, was born. Source Massimo; video @yu_haradakei.

sad reality of the fanfic-to-published work economy is that the weirdest people are willing to do it. that’s why there’s now hundreds of shitty no plot cishet hate-to-love enemies-to-lovers books that are ex reylo fanfic. and it’s not even good. that’s because the people who wrote book-quality steve/bucky and kirk/spock fic are too normal to think to themselves “i should get this porn published”. they’re too busy working in local government offices
